Intensive Behaviour Intervention

UTUT’s IBI program is individualized based on the learners’ strengths and needs. Due to the intensive nature of IBI, UTUT offers both a 1:1 ratio (1 therapist for 1 learner) and 2:3 ratio (2 therapists for 3 learners) model of therapy.

Upon enrolment, an initial assessment is conducted by the clinical team to assess language and learning skills and behaviour challenges. From here, a comprehensive individualized program is created and learning begins!

Under the Umbrella Tree offers Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) 6 days a week. UTUT’s IBI program is based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. UTUT uses a Verbal Behaviour approach, which focuses on developing functional communication as the foundation for supporting skill development in all areas. The goal of UTUT’s IBI program is to increase skill development in the following areas:

    • Health and Hygiene
UTUT welcomes families with Direct Funding Option (DFO) from the Ministry of Child and Youth Services. DFO is obtained based on area of residency. Click here for a list of government funding agencies.
